Richard H. Kirk has been so busy with his Cabaret Voltaire output lately that you'd think you were living through the 1980s again. But Kirk’s late period proves itself to be an alternate timeline for the Cabs, retconning the post-punk past for the kind of experimentation we’d sooner expect from industrial techno projects. Dekadrone follows the natural progression of the shadowy noise-plays he mastered with his comeback albums Shadow of Fear and Shadow of Funk, and reduces the clatter of electronic percussion to a longform, off-the-wall trip into deep and heavy drones across a single piece of all-enveloping music.
