Country vocalist Cheryl Poole, born in Tyler, Texas on October 21, 1948 did not enjoy a great deal of commercial success as a recording artist with just 4 entering the Billboard Country charts from 1968 to 1970, and only one of which (just) made the Top 40, all for the Jewel Records subsidiary Paula. In total, she only had 11 single releases.
Usually, when an artist had such modest success in that era they did not get the opportunity to cut an album, but that wasn't the case with Cheryl who had the LP covered here released in 1969 titled simply "Cheryl" (Paula LPS-2209)

ABOUT THIS ALBUM - In this album we have tried to showcase the many facets of Cheryl's talent. On the standard, “I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry", Cheryl sings with poignant sadness. Her showmanship comes alive with her “sock’ delivery of “Kansas City”. You'll feel a lump in your throat from her warm performance on “Daddy's Little Girl." Emotions are cloaked in a shroud of sympathetic understanding thru her delivery of “The Skin's Gettin” Closer To The Bone”.
