PETER NERO plays like the devil. As a matter of fact, he looks a little like the devil, but in his case that's not a rap. A tall man with Mastroianni looks and a small black beard comes off that way, naturally. But don't be fooled. Once you hear him, grab for your soul. If it's got a handle, he'll have taken it.
The secret is the synthesis. He takes from jazz, from classical, from electronic and folk and everywhere else and invents something that brings it all together. This takes musicianship, but you know about all that; that's just the language of music.
