Chris Richards is a songwriter and recording artist from Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Richards’s recording career began in 2001 with the self-released album Jam the Breeze. Legendary British broadcaster and tastemaker Bob Harris discovered the album and began playing it on his BBC Radio shows, adding the song “Why Arizona” to Volume 3 of his Bob Harris Presents compilation albums. On his 2004 follow-up, Tumblers & Grit, Richards expanded his sound under the guidance of producer R.S. Field. The album earned excellent reviews in publications like The Philadelphia Inquirer, L.A. Daily News, Detroit Free Press, and The Tennessean, and international music magazines MOJO and Maverick. Richards subsequently toured across the U.S. He took a break from releasing music in the later half of the ‘00s before reemerging with the MOJO-four-star-rated albums Goldenwest (2012), The Magic Line (2014) and Afterlight (2019). "Wisconsin River" is his sixth full-length release.
