Igor Stravinsky conducts some of his best-known works in a series of classic Columbia recordings made in the early 1960s. Like the Bernstein, self-recommending for those who enjoy this music.
Review from SA-CD.net: These recordings originate from the 1960s and the performance of “Le Sacre”, made when the composer was eighty, is generally regarding as the one by which all others are judged and is remarkable for its rhythmic drive, without any feeling of undue haste. There is sensitivity too in quieter moments like the Largo Introduction to Part II of the ballet. The 1945 revision is used for the performance of the “L’Oiseau de Feu” Suite and in both ballets, the playing of the Columbia Symphony Orchestra is marvellous. The DSD remastering has been superbly carried out and the stereo-only sound has remarkable clarity and spaciousness with the sense of a “real” orchestra being in front of the listener. Strongly recommende
