"The Best of the Pink Floyd 1970", also issued as "Masters of Rock 1974", is a compilation album of early Pink Floyd music, concentrating on singles and album tracks from 1967 to 1968.
The album consists of compositions written during the early period when Sid Barrett was in the group, he is also the author of most of them. Three tracks (on the first side) are taken from the debut album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, the rest were previously released as singles. The composition "It Would Be So Nice" is presented in a new version, which differs from the single. On The Best of the Pink Floyd all recordings are done in mono, while Masters of Rock contains some stereo versions - for example, on this album the stereo version of the song "Apples and Oranges" appears for the first time.
