In 1905, a man named Eleisha Pechey invents a new typeface, naming it Windsor. About seventy years later, a director named Allan Stewart Konisberg will add it to his already numerous obsessions, making it the distinctive character of his opening credits. Those white text titles on a black field, so neutral, today leave no indication of what is about to begin, except that it is, unequivocally, a Woody Allen film.
