La Venexiana - Wert: Madrigals (2017)

Giaches de Wert, the Flemish composer, paved the way for innovations in madrigal writing, which reached its apotheosis with Monteverdi. This recording features some of his later madrigals, on texts from Torquato Tasso s 'Gierusalemme liberata' and Battista Guarini s 'Il pastor fido'. The award-winning La Venexiana singers, who at that time included Rossana Bertini, Giuseppe Maletto, Sandro Naglia, Daniele Carnovich and of course Claudio Cavina, deliver their best in this milestone interpretation of lesser-known repertoire, from 2002.
