Aussie Rock band Thirsty Merc has announced details of their new album Shifting Gears (set to be released on September 4th) along with a 37-date Australian tour to celebrate the release. Shifting Gears is the fourth studio album from the band and their first new material in five years. Thirsty Merc are celebrating the 12th anniversary of their debut EP, and this album promises to be their biggest yet. The album was written across Sydney, Melbourne, and Los Angeles. And the band utilised crowdfunding platform PledgeMusic to help get the record recorded and mixed and the response was overwhelming. In fact, the band reached its goal within 48 hours of the campaign. The album was produced by longtime collaborator Linsday Gravina, and mastered by the Grammy nominated Emily Lazar. Vocalist and songwriter Rai Thistlethwayte said “We’ve haven’t really stopped since 2002, and being around for over a decade, we’ve got lots more experience than when we started. We’ve also got still got loads of energy, and we want to harness that energy to work hard, around the clock, to continue touring and making good music.”
