Duo Foz's story begins in an unpretentious way. In July of last year, guitarist PC Guimarães invited percussionist Natália Miter, with whom he has been in partnership since 2014, for a presentation at an online festival, Uno | Duo. She, with her vibraphone, joined the musician and the result of the show, composed basically of songs written by PC, enchanted producer Alexandre Andrés, who immediately launched the idea in the air: the punctual partnership should generate something bigger, definitive. “We can even say that he created Duo Foz”, comments PC.
Right after the show, he and Natália Miter plunged into a month of rehearsals and composing arrangements. After this lab, the pair went through an intense immersion of a little over a week in the Studio Macieiras, owned by Andrés, the work's producer, located on a farm in the interior of Minas Gerais. Now, a year later, the idea becomes a record. This Thursday (16), “Intersection of the Worlds” arrives at the digital platforms, the phonographic debut of Duo Foz.
The album features a reinterpretation of “Drão”, by Gilberto Gil, who received the award for best arrangement in the 20th edition of BDMG Instrumental, held in July, and seven other author tracks - all of them with audiovisual recordings - that explore the possibilities of dialogue between guitar and vibraphone, a rare formation in Brazilian popular music.
