Pure Pleasure picks up where The Dynamic Superiors left off. There's nothing quite as charming as "Shoe Shoe Shine," but it's a more even record overall. Ashford & Simpson obviously wrote "Nobody's Gonna Change Me," for openly gay lead Tony Washington. Its meaningful lyrics, great singing, catchy hook, and excellent production should have propelled it to the top of the charts. "Hit & Run Lover" has a slinky, lilting groove. Music lovers should demand a best-of CD.
