Prairie renegade and Canadian solo artist, Krista Hartman is from Peace River, Alberta. She grew up exploring the North Country where aurora borealis sparkles in the midnight sky. It is the setting within which she realized more completely a love for life. Stretched out with a blanket in the Peace River hills, Hartman penned original songs and dreamed incessantly of travel and discovery.

At eighteen, she left Alberta and traveled internationally across ten countries in less than two years. She made her way busking for change on the streets and teaching English through music to multicultural students across Asia. She found inspiration during her travels, at times drinking red wine on beaches with dreamers and artists and writing countless songs with an old travel worn acoustic guitar.

In 2005, The Alberta Foundation for the Arts saw fit to provide her with a professional recording grant. Her first commercial release, “Passport” was spawned out of Edmonton and sold hundreds of copies, garnering press nationally and internationally, charting on University and College stations across Canada. Krista Hartman toured solo and with a band to promote “Passport,” and even hit up New York City where she played live shows and successfully toured throughout the Southern American States in the summer of 2006. Shortly after her American tour, Hartman was awarded with yet another professional recording grant to work with her dream producer, Don Kerr and some of Canada’s favourite musicians.
