Despite her powerful, no-prisoners-taken voice, HELEN SHAPIRO was still merely a fourteen year-old schoolgirl in a gymslip when she exploded onto the UK Pop scene in 1961.

Helen enjoyed almost unprecedented initial success, her first four discs - 'Don't Treat Me Like A Child', 'You Don't Know', 'Walkin' Back To Happiness' and 'Tell Me What He Said' - reaching #3, #1, #1, and #2 in the UK respectively.

She quickly became established as a major international star, notably in Europe, The Middle East and Australia, and global sales of her early 45s all topped a million.

This compilation features her first seven singles, the Jazzy Helen EP, and the Tops With Me LP, all of which were substantial UK and worldwide hits during 1961-62.

Helen went on to enjoy a long, full career, later appearing in cabaret and stage musicals, and enjoying a couple of decades as a respected Jazz singer, before eventually turning to Gospel music after becoming a Messianic Jew.
