The result of Michele Campobasso's efforts, '' Acuslectric Project '', an album produced by the Castellanese company Amidala, will see the light on November 15th.
Michele Campobasso, graduated in piano, composition, instrumentation for band and jazz music, boasts a career as a pianist and arranger and composer studded with musical collaborations with orchestras, bands and internationally renowned artists, including Toquinho, Joel Taylor and Fabrizio Bosso, from 2005 to 2008 official Yamaha musician, pianist in the recording of “1920” by Achille Lauro with Gigi D'Alessio and Annalisa, finally, founder of Acuslectric Project.
Why remain motionless in the face of technological innovations and risk losing the opportunity to broaden your views? This is what the composer and pianist Michele Campobasso avoided, opening a bridge between jazz and electronics with “ACUSLECTRIC PROJECT”.
The intent is immediately clear: a refined mix of jazz, easy listening, chillout and a constant feeling that everything is a soundtrack for an imaginary film, experimenting with a solution halfway between the classic instruments of a piano acoustic power trio, bass and drums and the support of synths and drum machines, all excellently played by the pianist Michele Campobasso, who therefore presents himself as a solo trio. The mixture is the result of a skilful work of fine in the dosage of electronic sounds and effects, which manages to create a suggestive frame without ever invading the harmonic and melodic context.
Hence the evocative aspect that permeates the entire album or a constant suggestion of landscapes and soundscapes that promise an exciting journey. Starting from the dissonant clusters that resolve in sunny moments of the major tones of "Hide and Seek" to the poetic "Behind the cloud" which seems the perfect background for a day of light autumn rain, the disc opens immediately inviting us to stroll through varied meditative paths , which arouse emotional swings that are found several times in the album, such as the romantic window of "The Young Dreamer" or the seductive voice of "Hold my Soul", the only song sung, which appears as a reminder of a certain post rock psychedelia.
The disc is not free from fine technicalities that wink at modern electro-jazz languages, such as the enjoyable compositional refinement of "Latin Fugato", where Bach and Mozart act as a stylistic counterpoint to a Latin jazz rhythm or the refinement of odd times of “In Search of you” and the adrenalinic drum'n'bass of “Running in the Rain”, which open up to sudden dynamic and imaginative scenarios.
Acuslectric Project is an open work, a text of exquisite workmanship, between the poetic and the prosaic, between the effect of the sound-machine and the humanization of the acoustic touch, a record that can appeal to palates in search of contemporaneity, but also to more traditional listeners, taking musical generations by the hand together between yesterday, today and tomorrow.
