The pieces presented on this CD are taken from three famous manuscripts from the 13th and 14th century: the “Cantigas de Santa Maria“, the “Llibre vermell de Montserrat“ from Spain and the “Laudario di Cortona“ from Italy.
Not a lot is known as to how medieval musicians employed the use of percussion as there exist no written or notated sources but Murat Coskun, a specialist in medieval percussion music, demonstrates most effectively how the rhythm of the Middle Ages might have sounded.
