Various - Music From The Motion Picture: Austin Powers In Goldmember (2005)

Austin Powers' band Ming Tea were one of the brilliant highlights of the first film, so it's great to have another era-spoofing hit in Goldmember with "Daddy Wasn't There". If you thought the other highlights of the original and its sequel included the contributions of 1960s icons like Burt Bacharach, you'll miss that sort of input here; The Spy Who Shagged Me had bigger stars while the original had better classic generation-spanning stars. The big names this time are Beyonce Knowles ("Work it out"), who also cameos in the film, Britney Spears ("Boys"), Paul Oakenfold ("1975") and Smash Mouth ("Ain't No Mystery"). Earth, Wind and Fire appear with "Shining Star", but they're the standalone un-tampered track. The Rolling Stones are remixed by Dr Dre ("Miss You"). The "Alfie" theme song is remixed by Susanna Hoffs ("What's it all About, Austin?"). But the absolute highlight is Dr Evil getting on the remix tables for "Hard Knock Life". --Paul Tonks
