From plainchant to Messiaen, from Varèsian dazzling to serial revolution, from Pierre Schaeffer's studio to the exploration of micro-intervals, Ballif forges his freedom. At the heart of the effervescence of the 1950s, he created his language, Metatonality, a fiery alloy between "raw and cooked", a fertile synthesis.
