Ketil Bjørnstad & Svante Henryson - Night Song (2011)

Ketil Bjomstad returns to the piano/cello duo, instrumentation which defined two of his best-loved albums (The River and Epigraphs with American cellist David Darling). This new collaboration with Svante Henryson, however, tells a different story. As cellist, 1-lenryson currently works with distinguished classical musicians, jazz musicians and also has collaborated with artists such as Elvis Costello from the pop world! In brief he is an artistic polymath, rather like his colleague - composer/improviser/author, Bjomstad himself! The music they create together - atmospheric, dark-hued, of melodic temperament - is simply beyond category. The album features original compositions by Ketil Bjomstad (with the melodies of Franz Schubert as an inspirational source) and also by Svante Henryson.
