Over the past two years I have written, produced and recorded my sophomore album — TITAN — an epic, dark and contemporary concept album. The album was inspired by a nearly-forgotten dream and my fascination with space and science fiction. It’s an exploration of trauma, family, recovery, and new beginnings.
The album is eclectic and ambitious in scope. Consisting of fifteen tracks, it draws influence from alternative, songwriter, and rock music, and features a wide tonal palette ranging from distorted guitars and vocals, to strings and piano ballads. There is an emphasis on live musicians, with collaboration from my bandmates central to the album’s creative process.
TITAN was recorded during COVID lockdown by me and my bandmates at our respective homes in Sydney and (in our drummer’s case) regional Australia. The album and single artwork features NASA images of Saturn’s moon Titan (approved for use by NASA). Associated photos were taken by Melbourne-based photographer Lilli Waters.
TITAN was produced in Australia, where I have lived for the last ten years. I have recently returned to the USA, where I was born and raised, and I am currently living in New York City. - Danielle Deckard
