Dirk Wasmund - In Quarantäne (2022) Hi-Res

IN QUARANTÄNE is the new album by the Dirk Wasmund Trio, which in Corona times, in many months when performance opportunities for musicians became an absolute rarity, came closer and more consciously to each other as a playing association of like-minded and emotional relatives.

The ensemble is completed by the accordionist Romy Mäder, who studied at the Zwickau Robert Schumann Conservatory and at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar and who can draw on a musical background ranging from folklore and swing to cheerful classical music, and the guitarist Markus Ziller-Schmidt, also a graduate of the Weimar Music Academy; He too is blessed with experience in jazz and rock, but also in opera and musicals.

After playing music together for years, the trio now seems to have found their own way, and the line-up is audibly accommodating to the musical material. With the exception of three pieces (the Sicilian folk tune Ciuri ciuri penned by Francesco Paolo Frontini, the milonga contributed by Markus Ziller-Schmidt and the floral duet Sous le dôme épais from Léo Delibe's opera Lakmé) this again consists of compositions by Dirk Wasmund: between cheerfulness and melancholy, elegant and sensitive and - distinctive.
