This isn't truly the best of N.E.R.D. It covers the time the group spent on Virgin, which amounted to two albums: In Search Of and Fly or Die. Consequently, the 14-track set contains eight tracks off the debut (the inferior, re-recorded, live-band version issued in the U.S. in 2002) and four off the follow-up, as well as a pair of remixes and an equal number of B-sides (including the phenomenal "Lil' Suzy," also issued on Kelis' Wanderland as "Little Suzie"). This isn’t even the best of N.E.R.D.'s first two albums, not when it lacks "Tape You," "Am I High," "Bobby James," and "Wonderful Place." Casual fans aren't likely to be interested in a poorly-selected compilation covering only half the group's discography, and followers would have been far more pleased with a deluxe In Search Of featuring both versions with all the remixes and instrumentals that appeared on the singles.
