The Ballad of St. Catherine of Clare is Scania-based singer/songwriter Jonas "Joppe" Hellerup's first release together with The Bonewhispers, under the name Sigvard& The Bonewhispers. Together with the brothers Lars and Mats Brandström from the Mud Kings and Olof Broberg, a dynamic Americana is delivered that stretches between twangy blues rock and rootsy American-/Irish folk with a sprinkling of the Swedish music tradition in it. The self-revealing lyrics on classic country themes take you on a dark journey through demons, addiction and unrequited love. The sad narrator's voice and the lyrics are usually in focus, but Samuel Lundström's melancholy violin and Martín "Armonica" Poblete's sensitive harmonica, together with banjo, mandolin, pedal steel and other instruments, get plenty of space when the opportunity arises.
