Battery Operated Orchestra, the Sussex-based duo of Brigitte Rose and Chris Black, bring their synth-pop mastercraft to GOTO with ‘’We Are Ghosts’’, a 17-track retrospective of a decade’s worth of work. BOO’s well- refined DIY operations are evident across every facet of their musical process – these songs aren’t throwbacks to the halcyon days of the new wave, but perfectly constructed modern pop songs. Unforgettable, distinct and chic. Whilst conjuring lyrical allusions to espionage, electricity and EVP, Rose’s vocals can be reminiscent of anyone from Clare Grogan to Charlotte Gainsbourg, all backed up by an irresistible ensemble of synthesizers and drum machines, harmonious and sonically enticing.
