Recomposing in a musical context can be explained by using one or more parts from an existing piece, then putting it into a new context. This is a technique that Det Nye Norske Storband and composer David Sætre Hveem has used on the album "Det Rekomponerte Nye", which will be released in February 2023. Hveem takes the band's recorded improvisations as a starting point, breaks them up and puts the pieces together into a colorful and rhythmic mosaic. In this way, all the musicians and Hveem become strongly involved in the entire process, and a powerful common identity is formed.

Det Nye Norske Storband has in a short time become one of the country's leading large bands, and consists of young musicians with education from NMH and NTNU. While the band has deep respect for the traditional big band genre, the members are not afraid to step outside the circle and experiment with form and sound. It's easy to hear that they've specialized in a wide range of styles, with small and large fragments being assembled into a refreshing, captivating whole.

David Sætre Hveem is educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music, and works as a composer, arranger, conductor and performer. In the spring of 2022, he completed a master's degree in jazz composition for larger ensembles with a concert and recording in November 2021 with a 17-person sinfonietta, as well as a larger work for a 60-person orchestra in March 2022. In addition to this, in recent years he has, among other things, written several commissioned pieces for various ensembles for participation in National Championships (both school ensembles and amateur ensembles), made several full productions with own music for big bands and wrote commissioned pieces and arrangements for other large and small ensembles.
