Nine pianists, nine recordings, all made on a Steinway D, a large concert model, patiently restored by a renowned tuner and left on deposit in the Parisian living room of one of them. Nine pianists, who took up the challenge of recording solo (or partially accompanied by a musician of their choice), for one afternoon, on this exceptional instrument. Unity of action, time and place: grouped together in an elegant box illustrated with the images of a photographer-architect surveyor of the capital, these nine solos, between revisited standards and spontaneous improvisation, reflect how jazz is a matter of the moment and that in terms of swing, the City of Light is not devoid of talent. From the eldest Alain Jean-Marie to the youngest Fred Nardin, including Franck Amsallem, Manuel Rocheman, Pierre de Bethmann, Pierre Christophe, Laurent Coq, Vincent Bourgeyx and Laurent Courthaliac, the host of the venue, the nine pianists invited to "At Barloyd's" constitute a fraternal gallery of portraits and as many styles that demonstrate how rooted in the tradition of jazz is not an obstacle to access modernity.
