Maria Gil - Veye (2023)

Go, vigil. When the majority sleep, the minds that remain awake devise intertwined sounds that will later lead to melodies, which, well sewn, will be woven into songs. The vigil is also the night before the holidays, a moment of contained joy, of waiting, of illusion.

Veye is the debut feature, and María's corner of free creation. A space where the heterogeneous baggage of the author comes together with the influences of Baptiste and Mariano, allowing them to capture her voice. Melodies that seek lyricism and the beauty and harmonies typical of jazz that walk with folklore -Latin American, Iberian- as motor, seasoned with brushstrokes that transport to modernism and impressionism by Poulenc or Debussy.

Original songs in an innovative format, a trio, light, intimate, but rich and colorful, with constant interaction and room for improvisation, with emotionally charged texts in Spanish and Valencia.
