Tanhai Collective - The Tanifesto (2023)

6-piece London jazz band Tanhai Collective draw inspiration from Jazz, Broken Beat, House and Dub to create their signature high energy sound. After being picked out by Norman Jay MBE, their second ever gig (their first round the corner at the Brixton Windmill) was performing to a packed crowd at Cross the Tracks 2021. Following this success their next gig was the first stop of a sold out debut UK wide tour with dates in Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester and London which culminated with a prime time feature interview with Afrodeutsche on Radio 6. After cementing their unique sound while building a rep and dedicated following, Tanhai Collective have recorded an EP set to release in Early Spring

Tanhai Collective are true to their roots of the melting pot of South-East London. They pull from a wide variety of influences while centering on Jazz, Dub and UK club music (broken beat / DnB / Jungle).

Their High Energy sound is at home in any venue be they Jazz Bars or Club Dancefloors. For fans of, Yussef Kamaal, Neue Grafik, and LTJ Bukem they are a sought after live act and promise to provide infectious rhythms well into the night.

Tanhai Collective won the 2021 Lambeth Emerging Artist Competition judged by Norman Jay MBE resulting in them playing at Cross the Tracks Festival. They have played as far as Scotland on two occasions, including a debut tour playing at sold out venues across the UK. Inteviewed on a primetime feature interview with Afrodeutsche on 6 Radio. They played at Brick Lane Jazz Festival in the spring of 2022 and since then have become favorite picks for promoters in the East End, selling out 91 Living room on two occasions despite no formal releases.

In addition to being played on BBC Radio 6 their exclusives and WIPs have received airtime on independant radio stations such as Balamii, foundation, resonance.

The group have recorded their debut EP and are in the post production stages with Jimmy Robertson (9 time Mercury nominated / ‘Arctic Monkeys’) and Dillip Harris (Brownswood Recordings, Shabaka, King Krule).
