Six years into their existence, a period of multiple releases, Californian indie pop outfit Late Bloomers live up to their name by cooking up a self-titled full-length album (officially: S/T (2023)). Three of the band members from the very beginning – Alex Gonzalez (bass, guitar, keys), Emilio Morones (vocals, guitar) and Eddie Madec (drums, vocals, guitar) – bring you nine original twee pop tunes. At the center is signature tune Just a Friend, which was already heard in other versions on the first two EPs, Think of What You Want to Say; Say it (2016) and Late Bloomers (2017). Wonderful jangly guitars – rough around the edges – and delicious harmony vocals – relatable lyrics – make this a magnetic listen.
