Waysigns is a bold and mature step forward for a jazz sextet in constant development and exploration. The music is transparent, honest, and delves into interpersonal and personal themes such as joy, ambition, frustration, grief, and humility. With a warm subcurrent of personal revelations and spirituality, a belief in something greater and eternal, this album reflects the broad spectrum of a young life.

Vetle Aakre Laupsa is the band leader and composer. Drawing great inspiration from Charles Mingus, Brian Blade and the Fellowship, Hanna Paulsberg Concept, Arvo Pärt, and John Luther Adams, he has created music that reflects his life, experiences, and reflections in an energetic and honest manner. The band mirrors this desire for openness and exploration, and Laupsa’s compositions take on a life and character of their own in the hands of these talented musicians. With Laupsa Lokomotiv, guided by a steady leader, they create free, captivating, and versatile music.

The album was recorded at Studio Paradiso in Oslo by Marcus Forsgren in December 2022. It was mixed by Olav Abildgaard and mastered by Frode Ågedal Berg at Your Sound Mastering, Oslo.
