American songwriter and occasional producer, born 1940 in Houston, Texas, is an American songwriter who wrote hits for singers B.J. Thomas, Brenda Lee, and Elvis Presley, including Presley's US number one hit single, "Suspicious Minds." Most notable works include "The Eyes Of A New York Woman", "Hooked on a Feeling", "Suspicious Minds", "Roller Coaster" and "Always On My Mind" (co-written with Johnny Christopher and Wayne Carson Thompson).
