When new music began to emerge on the inner horizon, Ulrich Stranz immersed himself in a game with just a few notes. He distrusted the routine trick and explored what seemed familiar. He was fascinated by introverted counterworlds, as were questions about time and its modes.
The selection of works for this WERGO CD includes representative works that were created or revised between 1971 and 2001. Developments and constants in Ulrich Stranz's musical language emerge, and a well-rounded picture emerges - of a large, harmonious connection.

The young composers in question at the time, including Ulrich Stranz, thus created a wide space for musical expression, an achievement that still awaits historical appreciation.
