Velo focuses on danceable renditions. The album opens with the aggressive "Podres Poderes," where the theme is social criticism. "Nine Out of Ten" is a reggae with English lyrics. The beautiful ballad "O Homem Velho" talks about an old man, and the lively frevo is brought by "Vivendo em Paz." The fragmentary personality of the human being is the idea of "O Quereres." "Grafitti" and "Sorvete" are some of this album's songs with intentions no more ambitious than provoking some hip-shaking, but "Shy Moon" is a beautiful and mysterious ballad, again in English. The highlight of the album is "Língua," were metalanguage is a pretext for a swinging samba (mixed with several contemporary rhythms), featuring the participation of Elza Soares and her Louis Armstrong act.
