Mock Media’s debut LP Mock Media II – out November 17 on Meat Machine captures this firebrand four piece’s head-on plunge into enthralling existential contradictions: songs that explore the darkest corners of humanity, yet come out at the other end with the unwavering joy that marked their genesis. The latest example is called Mock Media which is made up of the members of Crack Cloud, NOV3L, Pottery and Painted Fruits and which is ready to turn us upside down at this end of year. The crème de la crème of Canadian post-punk come together for a first long-format soberly titled II.

Following their first EP called I, Garnet Aronyk Bennett Smith (N0V3L), Austin Boylan (Pottery) and Evan Aesen (Painted Fruits) roll up their sleeves to surprise us. Maintaining their post-punk base, Mock Media astonishes with their musical versatility which takes effect from the first notes of "ILL" with a powerful and guttural voice before surprising us with resolutely eclectic titles such as "Louis Won't Break" and “Father Of That Crime” which follow.

Drawing inspiration from pop-rock, country, folk and world music influences, Mock Media depicts a humanity in distress but manages to extract joy and hope. Whether on the hard-hitting “Modern Visions” or even on “Madness”, the Canadian superquartet surprises and manages to make us move before driving the point home with “Touch The Ground” and “Get On The Ship” with breathtaking rhythms. . This II is a huge success at the end of the year due to the searing eclecticism on the part of Mock Media who chases away the darkness of the end of the year by offering an impressive record from start to finish.
