The Mason Rack Band last month a new album with 12 new songs released. Big Bad Machine, recorded live at the Luna Studio in Burliegh Heads (Queensland, Australia). Most of the songs are solid up tempo blues-rock songs. In the opening song screams singer Mason Rack us as an epigone of Tom Waits '"I'm a big bad machine' Roses. Blues rock in the tradition of The Jimi Hendrix Experience. 30 Day Run is an uptempo rocker with "jakkerende" drums. Twinkle is a slow blues with a great content just like Tom Waits Panta Tonic Pirate. The tempo goes up again in the hoochie coochie man like BareWitness with Mason Rack on slide. The slide guitar also dominates in Come On Up. The spirit of Led Zeppelin hovers over this issue and that of Jimi Hendrix resurfaced It Hurts, except the slide with a pounding drums and thumping bass. The energy continues to flow out of the speakers with solid blues rockers like Naughty Girl and Little Digger.

Hopscotch In High Heels is a haven. A beautiful subtle slow blues. Too bad it's such a short number. The pounding drums then take it again in I Do Believe. The album concludes with a beautiful ballad. The classic Waltzing Matilda gets a wonderful performance. Subtle guitar sounds and the gravelly voice of Mason Rack. The prize song of the album for me.
