Singer Rita Maria and pianist Filipe Raposo present their new album, “The Art of Song, vol. 2: Between Sacred and Profane”, an edition of Roda Music. The new album, successor to “The Art of Song, vol. 1: When Baroque Meets Jazz”, released in 2020, results from the musical influences that artistically shaped the two musicians, adding elements of classical music, jazz and traditional songbooks.
Recorded in October this year, at the Church of Santa Maria in Idanha-a-Velha, “The Art of Song, vol. 2: Between Sacred and Profane” celebrates, according to the authors, “the role of singing and its telluric force as a primordial factor in socialization, in the passing of knowledge and in accompanying the ritual activities of work and religion, of the world of men and of the gods., through songs collected from different times and contexts.” The chosen repertoire is organized by themes: “Goddesses and men”, “Rites and work”, “Hands and fruits”, “Life and love”, “Eternal return”, from “From the cradle to the pit.”
