It's tough to pigeonhole Kerri Powers. She grew up listening to country music and singing in traditional country music bands with her Uncles who had their own radio show. But she took her own road from there. Her voice has been compared to Patsy Cline and a host of other 'Back in the Day' big voiced country singers, but her song lyrics are razor sharp and more often compared to Lucinda Williams. And John Hiatt. Although frequently appearing with a small group, you're most likely to catch Kerri playing solo singing to her own funky bluesy acoustic guitar style. (one studio vet was overheard saying 'She plays guitar better than most of my friends do' ) On 'Faith in the Shadows' (Gritty Ditty) Kerri teams up with producer/cowriter Crit Harmon (Mary Gauthier, Lori McKenna, Martin Sexton) to present a somewhat dark but hopeful collection of 10 'alt country, bluesy americana, rocking garage band, sung with a real deal voice' songs.
