Hot off the Press!! I have just won 3 awards in the Blues Chain Awards Best Female vocalist, Best new talent and Producer of the year with Greg Ohlback my husband!
Liza was born in Tasmania, and grew up in the Blue Mountains where she developed a love for Gospel and Blues at an early age, when she used to sit in with her mothers choral group at age 6. She discovered artists like Tony Joe White, Ann Peebles and Paul Rodgers in her teens and was heavily influenced by them and many others in this genre..
She wrote constantly with her brother and when she moved to Sydney began working in some of the top cover bands, as well as her original bands with Husband Greg Ohlback, and began doing session work and singing on other artists albums. She has worked with Richard Clapton, Jon Stevens, Tony Neville ( the Neville Brothers) Jade Mcrae and many others.....
She had many singles and has featured on many CD's , but in 2007 began writing "Trouble Goin' Down" and once again ignited her love of Blues, soul and Gospel. In some of her previous Blues bands she had worked with Zoltan Budai (Richard Clapton, Mental as anything) and they got together along with Greg to write the new CD.
It is a priceless album with Blues, ,Soul and Jazz inspired melodies, Passionate, witty yet sometimes cutting lyrics drawn from heartfelt personal experiences, and funky grooves inspired by the deep south blues sound, and even a footstompin rootsy Blues song , with an aussie touch...thongs as percussion with the stomp Box.... Liza's husband Greg Produced and mixed the CD at Red Cave Studios.
Liza's has also showered the Album with lush Gospel and "Blind Boys Of Alabama" style harmonies, helped by some of the best singers in this country!!! Dee Lavell, Dan Markovina, Evelyn Duprai Chiara Browne and Lee Noonan..
It also features the gritty smokin voice of Eric Rasmussen Guitarist on the CD, Zoltan Budai on Bass, Rick Mellick on Keys, Pete Rundle on Keys, Dave Weir on Sax and Greg Ohlback on Drums. Special guests were Mike Fronzek on Keys, Pete Maloney on Double Bass and Jqck Evans on Guitar.
Described by Georgina Reed as a "Sophisticated Blues Affair" this album is not to be missed but to be savoured!
