Excellent six-CD set representing the first half-dozen albums by the Kenny Ball band, with the sleeves from each album -- including Kenny Ball in Japan -- re-created in miniature and the digital audio quality excellent. As most of these albums (totalling over four hours of music) were never issued intact outside of England, and are unlikely to become available any other way, this box is an essential acquisition for any fan of trad or Dixieland jazz, and it's easy to understand -- after hearing everything here -- how and why Ball's career has extended across nearly five decades since the recordings here were made.
