Celtic Twilight 1
Celtic Twilight is inspired by the swirling mists and the verdant hills of the Celtic landscape and the matchless folk music of Ireland, Scotland and beyond. With its poignant slow airs and brilliant dances, the compilation transports you to a dreamlike world. Celtic Twilight was the title given by William Butler Yeats to an 1893 book of stories and reminiscences of his Irish homeland. Like the musicians presented here, the young poet longed to reconnect with what was even for him a vanishing world. Celtic music sings of this world, embracing the extremes of a joyous society in its rollicking dances and sombre introspection in its mournful airs and ballads. Suffused by centuries of suffering, redeemed by infinite beauty - it has captured the hearts and lifted the spirits of hundreds of generations of listeners.
