The Sendai International Music Competition was established by the city of Sendai in 2001 and is held every three years. The competition is unique in that it focuses on concertos, and has earned a reputation as a competition supported by fair and reliable management and the warm hospitality of its citizens. The 8th Competition for Violin was held from May 21 to June 4, 2023, and 37 talented young musicians, who passed the preliminary screening out of 135 applicants, gathered in Sendai from all over the world to give enthusiastic performances. The prize for the winner was a CD recording, which was made about a year after the competition ended, and which will show the present state of Rina Nakano, who has already appeared in numerous concerts.
