Moon Goose - Murmurations (2024) Hi-Res

It was one of the most notable Christmas songs from late last year, the grim post-punk track 2023 AD (“The great reset came and went”) by Welsh rock band Moon Goose. It had nothing to do with the warm Christmas spirit, but offered a powerful retrospective, both lyrically and in the video below. It also works as the opening salvo of Murmurations, the new (fourth) LP by Ade Williams, Des Davies, Dave Prescott, Rob Robinson and Antoine Mouquod, who again brutally transform strange and illogical ideas into fascinating space, psych, prog and motorik sounds. The album title refers to the phenomenon in which a large group of starlings fly in unison, the natural answer of the collective facing a common danger, excellently depicted in the cover art. After the aforementioned tune sets the tone, seven largely instrumental tracks follow, providing an exciting and almost hypnotic flight.
