The Bears - Eureka! (2007)

The album is the result of a number of weekend sessions that started already in 2003, so two years after their last studio album. Adrian Belew's side project has always operated in this way and can hardly be called a band in the traditional sense.

However, their modus operandi keeps the music fresh and on some pleasantly unforced level. They play when they feel like it and they record when they think they have something worthy.

On this release there is an even stronger XTC influence from that band's pastoral era but paired with some rockers like they had on earlier Bears albums. The power-pop songs they put into the mix are their best so far, try Normal, which is all but normal.

Their fourth studio album in 20 years and it is always fun to check out their albums.~Roxanne Walsh
