Blue Plate Special serves up a blend of American roots music. Their original songs feature strong harmonies mixed with mandolin, fiddle, guitar and bass. The band’s music has appeared on PBS documentaries (“Into The Fire,” and “The Appalachians”), National Public Radio (“Been There Done That”) and most recently, the reality TV show, “Wife Swap.” They have shared the stage with artists including Les Paul and Tom Chapin and have opened for artists as varied as Lucy Kaplansky, Little Feat, and the amazing zydeco accordian player C.J. Chenier. Blue Plate Special's new c.d.: "Tracks" features performances from Grammy nominated banjo player Tony Trischka, Amsterdam's finest jazz violinist Tim Kliphuis, violinist extraordinaire Jason Annick, harmonica ace Dennis Gruenling, and one of the New York area's finest flatpick guitarists Eddie Rainey. It's an honor to play with these amazing musicians.
