Gastón Reggio is an Uruguayan musician, educator, and composer with a diverse musical background, who has studied with renowned drummers Osvaldo Fattoruso and Daniel “Pipi” Piazzolla among many others in Uruguay and Argentina. In 2012, he expanded his musical horizons by moving to Brazil, where he earned a degree in Brazilian Music and Jazz from the Conservatory of Tatuí in São Paulo. rhythms. His extensive performance repertoire includes appearances at numerous festivals, theaters, schools, and venues across Uruguay, Brazil, and the United States. Gastón has lent his talents to over twenty albums, leaving an indelible mark on each project.
Not only a seasoned collaborator, Gastón has also showcased his creative prowess by releasing two albums of his original compositions: "Do Interiô" in 2019 and "Michigan", in 2024.
The Gastón Reggio Group delves into Gastón's original compositions, a fusion inspired by the rich traditions of Candombe, the Afro-Uruguayan music, and Jazz, among other eclectic influences. The ensemble also offers reinterpretations of classics from the Uruguayan-Folk-Music repertoire, infusing them with a distinctive jazz sensibility.
