Thomas de Pourquery is an extravagant showman with a flashy aura. The man who likes to describe himself as a masculine diva is releasing LET THE MONSTER FALL, an album of electro-pop songs in his own image: charismatic, sunny and thunderous.
Accompanied by YODELICE (who produced the record) and some of his lifelong pals, the artist draws inspiration from his idols - THE FLAMING LIPS, FUTURE ISLANDS and BON IVER - and unveils some very intimate lyrics, sometimes written as a teenager. "I always knew I'd be a singer," he declares.
For the man who paid tribute to SUN RA with his crazy group SUPERSONIC is known in a world quite different from that of pop: jazz. A self-taught saxophone virtuoso, he has already enjoyed a twenty-year career in the music business and was even voted best French musician at the VICTOIRES DU JAZZ in 2022. Thomas de Pourquery admits that he has long hidden behind his instrument. Prior to this album, he had accumulated experience, put together tons of bands (jazz, pop, rock...) and eccentric projects (such as a punk brass band) in which he was always the leader, and played memorable roles in French auteur films. He also lent his talent to pop stars like METRONOMY and CLARA LUCIANI... until finally becoming one in his own right.
