re#encounter - Angels & demons at play (2026) [Hi-Res]

Musical project re#encounter released their debut album Angels and Demons at Play on W.E.R.F. Records. The conceptual core of the record centers on the musical traditions of the Black Atlantic, exploring trance states, rhythmic rituals, and Afrofuturism.

The sonic architecture merges Moroccan gnawa ceremonial heritage, Colombian cumbia, West African griot storytelling, and Afro-Caribbean rhythmic structures. Vocal performances by Hicham, Kaito, and Paula weave narratives of ancestors, djinns, and cosmic journeys over the free jazz improvisations of Lúcia and Joos, backed by the tight rhythm section of Falk, Anaïs, and Robbe. Moving between contemplative soundscapes and explosive group improvisations, the record carries forward the legacy of spiritual jazz pioneered by Sun Ra, Pharoah Sanders, Ethnic Heritage Ensemble, and Shabaka Hutchings.
