This cd was a lot of fun to make. We more or less made it on the fly so to speak. I was in Masonboro Sound Recording in Wilmington, NC with engineer Dave Meyer recording a solo CD called "Time, Tide and Tackle". Living my adult life in Wilmington, N.C. I had played with good friend and jazz great, UNCW jazz instructor Bob Russell. Also, a long time friend and great drummer,"D Squared" or otherwise known as Dan Dixon was now living in Wilmington,NC after touring years with some of North Carolina's best acts. We had played a few gigs together and it had always gone well. I had recorded Chris Bellamy, Down in the keys Live with Key Players a few years earlier and it had come out well. That was kind of a last minute project as well. So that is where the idea started. I said to Dave,"let's do a live cd this Sunday". He looked at me and said, O.K. as if I'd lost my mind. So I got up with everybody and with no rehearsal, made plans for a Sunday afternoon live recording session. I called my friend Dan Siebert and asked if he could get the club house in "The Waterford" outside of Wilmington, NC. He said sure so we decided to get some barbeque, fix'ns and a few adult beverages and make a cd. Dave Meyer said O.K.and I was so serious that I had tickets to the Delbert McClinton Tater Jam Concert and elected not to go so as I would not have a large hang over on the day of recording. It was a good thing I stayed home that night. On recording day the energy level was high and I needed all my wits about me. Having a few drinks with our live audience, some fine barbeque pork and fix'ns, we took a bunch of pictures and started playing. It just felt right! Guitar player Bobby Russell was on fire and drummer Dan Dixon was dead on. So all I had to do was sing and play guitar! It was great! A lot of magical musical moments happened that day! It was as if Delbert McClinton had come to see us. With songs by Ray Charles, Hoagy Carmichael and Eddy Arnold, away we went. We played some of our favorite songs that I had written over the years and everyone had a great time. We managed to get it down on this CD for you! I hope you enjoy this music as much as we did making it! Thanks for stopping by, Sincerely, Chris Bellamy...
