HOT R. S. It is reliably known that this band has nothing to do with the famous “great German disco expansion” of the 70s - 80s, but was born in Johannesburg (South Africa) as a purely studio rock band. It is also reliably known that the name of the group - Hot R. S. - does not translate at all as “Hot Russian Samovar” (which is exactly what both Soviet newspapers and disc jockeys in our country claimed), but is... an abbreviation for the name of the first song recorded by the group, namely - House Of The Rising Sun (HOT RS). In addition, it is known that during the period from 1977 to 1980, this formation recorded three albums, which, according to the main inspirer of the work of Hot R. S. and producer Kevin Kruger, the musicians were inspired by the legendary hits of the Animals "House Of The Rising Sun" (1964) and Frankie Vaughan's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" (1958). An equally curious fact that also has a place to be: in this purely disco project, such rock mastadons as Trevor Rabin from the group YES, Robert John "Mutt" Lange, Duncan had the pleasure of having a blast. Mackay (Duncan Mackay) and some others. Well, Dan Hill and Kevin Krueger were in charge of all this beautiful disgrace. It’s just a pity that they recorded so little... P. S.: In 2003, the band was revived with Dan Hill (keyboards, arrangements), Kevin Kruger (drums, keyboards, vocals, production), Veronique Lalouette (vocals), Bobby Louw (vocals) , Malie Kelly (backing vocals) and even recorded the record “I Get So Excited” (EMI Records SA CDEMIM 060). True, how long this comeback took place is unknown.
Hot R.S. are a rare studio band from South Africa. It formed and recorded its first and perhaps best album in 1977 in Johannesburg. The band's first vinyl was released that same year. In total, the group released four albums. There are special editions of compositions for broadcast on radio. In 1997, the first three albums were released on CD. In 2003, the last album was released at EMI studio. Unfortunately, there is very little information about the group. Apart from the list of the group's members, there is no information about them.
