Ann Annie is the stage name for Portland based composer Eli Goldberg. In his formative years, Ann Annie was introduced to music by classical music and orchestral scores which became some of his first and favorites genres to listen to on a deeper level. Eventually translating this into soft ambient atmospheres using tape manipulation and various synthesizes. Although primarily an instrumental artist, over the last few years Ann Annie has began working with artists/vocalists as an instrumentalist and producer. Releasing his 4th album, "The Wind", Ann Annie explores mixing a sort of classical mentality and instrumentation with some of the folk / country sounds and styles from his previous record, "By Morning". "Written and recorded almost completely in my house, including cello, upright bass, trumpet, clarinet, acoustic and electric guitar, pedal steel, modular synth, and lots of tape effects / processing" says Ann Annie.
The continuation and second movement from a previous track of mine, “memoir”. “Willows” was one of the first songs I recorded & wrote Clarinets and cellos with. “Willows” is also part of the opening movements of the first few shows I played with a string section / chamber orchestra this year.
