Rocío Faks - Gotas de Luar (2002)

Some of the finest soloists in the Barcelona scene have contributed to this, the debut CD from Rocio Faks, an Argentinean singer who grew up in Brazil. Rocio knows Bossa Nova very well and performs with ease and her own particular style. Her reportoire is based on originals and versiones based on pieces by Tom Jobim, Ary Barroso, Milton Naciemiento, Moacyr Luz, Nelson Cavaquinho, Noel Rosa, Chico Buarque, Djava and not just "Samuray" or "Flor de Lis" but also pieces like "De flor em flor", that he composed but never sang - the only actual covers here are of Rosa Passos and Ana Caran.

This is one of the freshest female voices to emerge in the last few years and one that Fresh Sound World Jazz is very pleased to present.
